Neurological & Spinal Specialist Care
Neurosurgery
Neurological conditions can be frightening for pet owners and challenging to diagnose. Our neurosurgery team combines advanced imaging — including CT — with specialized surgical techniques to treat conditions of the spinal cord. We work closely with your primary veterinarian to provide timely, expert care when it matters most.
Procedures We Perform
Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) Surgery
Hemilaminectomy, ventral slot, and dorsal laminectomy procedures to decompress the spinal cord and relieve pain or paralysis caused by disc herniation.
Spinal Stabilization
Fixation of vertebral fractures, luxations, and instability using implants and bone cement to restore spinal alignment and protect the cord.
Atlantoaxial Instability Repair
Surgical stabilization of the C1-C2 joint — most common in toy breeds — to prevent life-threatening spinal cord compression.
Peripheral Nerve Surgery
Biopsy, decompression, and repair of peripheral nerves affected by trauma, entrapment, or neoplasia.
Conditions We Treat
- Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) — cervical and thoracolumbar
- Spinal cord compression and myelopathy
- Atlantoaxial instability
- Vertebral fractures and luxations
- Degenerative myelopathy (supportive care)
- Lumbosacral stenosis (cauda equina syndrome)
- Brachial plexus injuries
What to Expect
- 1Referral submitted by your primary vet — we prioritize neurological cases and aim to schedule within 24–48 hours.
- 2Neurological examination performed by our specialist to localize the lesion and determine urgency.
- 3Advanced imaging (CT) is scheduled — often same-day or next-day for acute cases.
- 4Surgical plan is discussed in detail, including prognosis, risks, and expected recovery trajectory.
- 5Surgery performed with intraoperative neuromonitoring and specialized neurosurgical instrumentation.
- 6Post-operative neurological assessments are performed every few hours during hospitalization.
- 7Rehabilitation therapy recommendations and a structured recheck plan are provided at discharge.
